Eating normal-shaped kibbles is challenging for flat faced dogs with uniquely shaped jaws and teeth. Also known as Brachycephalic dog breeds, boxers, pugs, and bulldogs, for example, need a little extra help when it comes to eating and dental health. Health Issues for Flat Faced Dogs and How Our Recipe Helps:

• Skin fold dermatitis, ear infections, and ocular (eye) issues – Omega-3s and antioxidants, added into this recipe, build up the skin’s natural defence mechanisms, are anti-inflammatory as well as immune-supportive, and strengthen eye tissue and overall health.
• Dental crowding, leading to poor oral hygiene and health – unique kibble shape helps mechanically clean teeth whilst chewed. In addition, calcium and phosphorous have been added to the recipe to strengthen the jaw and teeth.
• Bloating and digestive discomfort – the shape of our kibble slows eating and encourages smaller bites. The recipe also excludes any gas-producing ingredients that lead to bloating or regurgitation and has softer kibbles to aid in digestive health.
• Breathing difficulties from shortened airways – our recipe is protein-packed to promote feeling full and prevent over-eating, since weight gain puts further strain on breathing.
• Poor heat regulation – because of the above-mentioned breathing difficulties, Brachy dogs battle to regulate their body temperature (since panting is the only way dogs can control this). Short-muzzled dogs are also prone to gastrointestinal tract (GIT), joint, and coat issues. And so, with this in mind, we’ve added our best ingredients to proactively support these general health issues. The addition of glucosamine, chondroitin and green-lipped mussel extract helps with joint health, whilst the inclusion of beet pulp and prebiotics assists with digestive tract health.
